MEDICARE ADVANTAGE

PART C

• Medicare Advantage is an “all in one” alternative to Original Medicare. These “bundled” plans include Part A, Part B, and usually Part D.

• Plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.

• In many cases, you’ll need to use doctors and other providers who are in the plan’s network and service area for the lowest costs.

• Most plans offer extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover—like dental, vision, hearing, Over the Counter, meals following a hospital stay, fitness membership, transportation and more.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG COVERAGE

PART D

  • All plans must cover a wide range of prescription drugs that people with Medicare take, including most drugs in certain protected classes.

  • Many Medicare drug plans and Medicare health plans with drug coverage place drugs into different levels called “tiers” on their formularies.

  • Drugs in each tier have a different cost. For example, a drug in a lower tier will generally cost you less than a drug in a higher tier.

PREPARE FOR YOUR MEDICARE APPOINTMENT

Things to consider when making changes to your Medicare Advantage plan to decide which one is right for you.

• What suits your budget, lower monthly premiums or lower medical costs?

• Are you comfortable having access to a limited selection of doctors, or would you prefer to choose your own?

• How often do you visit your doctor?

• What prescription drugs are you taking now and how each plan will cover your medications?

• Is your preferred pharmacy in your drug plan’s network?

• Do you have any chronic diseases?

Are you also on Medicaid?

• How often do you travel? What will Medicare cover when you travel?
